The essential guide to building product marketing from the ground up
Product marketing has established itself as a key player in any business’s strategy. But almost every product marketer will agree - it looks different in every business. “It depends” is the de facto answer for every question.
But how does a business, or team, or individual, transition from whatever the “before” is to the “after”, where product marketing is established?
This is a step by step guide to that transformation. Before you’re able to roll out playbooks for product launches and do the well documented parts of product marketing, there’s messy silos, differing opinions, and the question of where to start that you’ll have to navigate.
By the end of this book, you’ll have your key stakeholders, teams, and individuals bought in, aligned, and ready to march in the product marketing parade.
I’ve been reading The Mehdeeka Method by Kayla Medica and it’s been helpful in summarising and distilling the whole process of SaaS marketing / product marketing for me. I’m using the terminology to better articulate strategies to clients, asking the right questions at the right times, and having a smoother process and flow to the system of working.
Only a few pages in and I already know this is a book I've been looking for for a while. The table of contents got me. I've read books about launches, positioning, messaging but hadn't found one that taught me how to work better cross functionally. Which is literally the most important part of the role.
I'm really enjoying it! Having been in product marketing for 20+ years now it's incredibly refreshing to articulate what many might 'take for granted' or even have overlooked particularly with various pressures (do more with less etc!) Also, I've found due to the huge sliding scale of what most businesses think product marketing is, it then ends up shaping the roles/responsibilities of that PMM (often diluting their impact!) So far your construct and framework is clear, concise, and most importantly replicable!
Kayla is the master of all things product marketing and this book is a fantastic guide for those who are looking to make real impact with their product marketing efforts. Kayla’s approach to product marketing has transformed my career and this is a book that every product marketer should have in their arsenal.
